Xiaomi can work on a new smart mask behind the scenes. This mask is likely to be included in the growing market for face and pollution masks. Masks have gradually gained importance in many markets as air pollution has increased. In fact, these masks have entered the mainstream as many companies start launching their masks. In addition to pollution, coronavirus outbreaks have also intensified the need for high-quality masks worldwide. Companies are selling these masks in increasing quantities. At the same time, a new report has indicated that Xiaomi may be working on designing smart masks with some interesting tracking features.
According to a report by 91Mobiles, the company filed a patent for its smart mask with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The USPTO granted the company a patent. Keeping an eye on the specifications in the patent, Xiaomi plans to add a computing unit to the smart mask. This unit will feature a processor to compute all recorded data from sensors embedded in the mask. In addition, the smart mask will feature a battery as well as a memory module. The company has also added a connectivity module to send all this information to a companion smartphone.
In addition, the smart mask will also have heath sensors in the system. These sensors can record the amount of respiration with each breath along with the total volume of breath. If the user was moving while breathing, Xiaomi could also add an accelerometer and gyroscope to the mask to find out. There the mask can count the number of pollutants a user has inhaled along with the filtration capacity.
