Xiaomi has launched a few 5G phones this year and plans to double its 5G portfolio next year. Xiaomi chief Lei Jun has revealed that the company plans to launch more than 10 5G smartphones next year. In particular, 5G support will not be limited to just Xiaomi’s flagship and high-end phones, as the company aims to offer 5G connectivity on its mid-range and low-end phones as well. Xiaomi phones coming with 5G support have Redmi K30 which is going to be official soon.
According to a Reuters report, June was speaking at the World Internet Conference in China and revealed plans to launch 10 5G phones in 2020. The decision was reportedly influenced by the positive response received for the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G which was launched in September. Demand for Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G was reportedly exceeding expectations and even due to inventory issues.
The highly enthusiastic response to Xiaomi’s 5G-powered flagship has prompted the Chinese company to develop 5G phones in the flagship, mid-range and low-end lineups.
“People in the industry fear that 4G models will not sell next year, this is a step that you have no choice but to take. We therefore hope that operators can accelerate the expansion of their 5G base stations.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G and Mi 9 Pro 5G are two of Xiaomi’s 5G-capable phones that are already in the hands of users. The Mi Mix Alpha 5G concept phone is also officially gone. For upcoming phones, the Redmi K30 has already officially been offered dual-band 5G support. Apart from this, Xiaomi has also announced plans to use the integrated Snapdragon 7 series chipset with 5G support in its upcoming phones.
