WhatsApp Spotted Adding Dark Mode Elements to Avatar Images

WhatsApp has been working on dark mode for its Android and iPhone apps for some time. But now, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android version has given some notable hints related to the ongoing development. The beta update incorporates new avatar placeholders for Dark Mode. Similarly, there is a new VoIP screen with dark elements. This screen surfaces after the user receives a WhatsApp call. The new changes are a part of the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android. However, they are not yet visible to the public.

A fresh series of dark mode-focused changes is present in WhatsApp beta version 2.19.354 for Android. This new update includes avatar images (or placeholder icons) for broadcasts, individual profiles, and groups with a gray background. As per WhatsApp beta watcher WABetaInfo reports, it will be visible to users after dark mode is enabled.

Along with the new avatar pictures, the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android devices has new VoIP screen dark elements to support dark mode. The new screen will retain the green background present on the current VoIP screen, but to some extent with darker colors to reduce eye light. It is likely that WhatsApp will make further interface-level changes before bringing Dark Mode to the public.
