WhatsApp Launches Search the Web Feature to Fight Misinformation

WhatsApp has introduced a new search web feature that will allow users to check, with just one tap, the authenticity of a forwarded message and if it has been debunked on the Internet. In the wake of the coronavirus epidemic, the proliferation of fake news is on the rise, and this new feature from the Facebook-owned company will help monitor misinformation. The web search is initially being launched in select countries, and has not yet been launched in India.

By tapping on it, you will be redirected to your default browser, where the message will be uploaded. This will allow you to check the authenticity of the message through web results, which may include articles that have considered the message to be fake.
