Olympic and Paralympic organizing committee of Tokyo has announced that they are making athletes medals using gadgets waste. Committee says that “There was huge levels of support from the public and companies across Japan and from national and International athletes” results they were able to collect about 47488 tons of e-waste.

According to reports, figures include more than five million disused phones were handed in at NTT Docomo stores. E-waste collection center was also placed at post offices and public buildings. Organizing committee target of 2700 KG of bronze was met last June, while 93.7% of the 30.3Kg gold target and 85.4% of the 4100 kg silver target and been extracted by October.

This program will end on 31st March, and the Olympic and Paralympic medal designs will be revealed this summer.
