Spotify Launches Dedicated, Standalone Music App for Kids

Spotify has launched a dedicated app for children, called Spotify Kids, which will allow children up to three to listen to their own music both online and offline.

The Spotify Kids app features about 6,000 tracks for kids, all of which say the company is specifically geared towards children. The app will be freely available to all premium family customers and children can be given their own accounts.

“Spotify Kids is a combination of playlists that make it easy for kids to find music or stories to sing to their favorite movies and TV shows or hit plays during their favorite activity. The company said in a statement on Wednesday, “The standalone app, especially for young children, is a new place for spotify and we understand the sensitivity about content for children.”

The company says it has spent more than two years working on Spotify Kids and has consulted with children’s experts.

The app is currently available in beta and in Ireland, and will be offered in the coming months in all markets with a premium family.
