The OnePlus 8 Pro is already rumored to debut with a 120Hz display. But before the new flagship is officially unveiled, the Chinese company has announced its 120Hz Fluid Display technology that will include a dedicated MEMC speed compensation chip and come with a touch sampling rate. The new OnePlus Fluid Display technology will also bring 10-bit HDR support and will have a 4096-level automatic brightness control via an all-new ambient sensor. If we look at the recent rumors, the OnePlus 8 Pro with new display technology will debut in the second quarter of this year. Apart from the new display-focused experiences on last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro, the phone is likely to undergo several upgrades.
At the 2020 Screen Technology Communication meeting, OnePlus introduced its 120Hz fluid display technology supported by the RGB Color Temperature Sensor with a 0.8 Just Notable Color Difference (JNCD) rating.
The OnePlus display has also claimed to have a new ambient light sensor that will boost the level of automatic brightness adjustment. When the OnePlus 7 Pro was compared with a 1024-level automatic brightness adjustment, the new display has been touted to give a 4096-level brightness control that is four times the average Android flagship. The new ambient sensors have also been claimed to incorporate advances in detecting ambient environmental conditions to adjust brightness levels.
OnePlus CEO Pete said, “We believe that even the best smartphone display should be able to deliver superior visual quality and comfort view. We are sure that the new 120Hz Fluid display of OnePlus will be the best.”
