New Opera News Lite App Launched That Uses Less Data and Storage

Opera launched a lightweight version of its news app called Opera News Lite aimed at users with low data storage and limited data speeds. The app is available for download from the Google Play Store in more than 40 countries including India. Opera News Lite – Available in over 60 languages ​​and countries. The new app provides faster browsing using fewer resources.

In its blog post, Opera stated that the new Lite app is “less than a megabyte” in size, meaning users with limited download bandwidth and speed also need not worry. Opera News Lite retains personalized news articles, exclusive original content and information about breaking news, which were part of the old Opera News app. The company behind the popular web browser with the same name claimed that the new app is “highly responsive under all network conditions because it reduces the use of data and resources to deliver content faster.”

According to the company, Opera News Lite can provide four times faster access to news for users residing in Kenya, Nigeria and surrounding countries, as it has established local data centers in Lagos and Mombasa. The post stated that local data centers have reduced connection latency, allowing for faster navigation on not only the Opera News Lite app but entire Opera products.

The Opera News Lite app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store which is around 1 MB in app size while the old Opera News app is priced around 11 MB.
