Now a days people are using virtual assistant just like Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri etc. but we have to speak loudly to ask our query, or if we are in public area, people hesitate to use virtual assistant.
Here Microsoft filed a patent to solve this problem. Microsoft notes that a number of reason — not wanting to disturb those nearby, not wanted to share private information, people often avoid issuing voice commands when in public places. “Although performance of voice input has been greatly improved, the voice input is still rarely used in public spaces, such as office or even homes,” says the patent filing.
“These are not technical issues but social issues. Hence there is no easy fix even if voice recognition system performance is greatly improved.” Here Microsoft has came up wit “Silent Voice input,” with the help of this people can use it to voice input by whispering on it.
Microsoft’s Purpose : Rather than speaking into your phone in public, it suggesting you whisper into it. But not a normal whisper. you’re supposed to inhale while you whisper. It’s called ingressive airflow and Microsoft says it will prevent user’s whispered voice from being distorted. According to Microsoft silent voice input technology could be embedded in a range of devices including phones, watches, TV remotes, headsets and rings.
