The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have made their way to iFixit where they were put through the tearing process. Both phones have the same design and construction that makes the teardrop process identical. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have a repairability score of 6 out of 10, with 10 easy to repair. The team at IFixit noted that the tearing process is slightly different than last year’s iPhone 11 models, and they also require more heat to separate the display from the body.
iFixit introduced the iPhone 12 to the livestream, sharing the experience as they progressed. It can be seen that some of the components used in the iPhone 12 are noticeable compared to the iPhone 11 with a loudspeaker and a Tapti engine. Usually, when opening the iPhone, the display opens to the left but around this time, it opens to the right. iFixit also mentioned that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro’s displays serve as the only difference between each other, brightness is.
The main difference between the two iPhone models is the camera module. Interestingly, the modules are still similar since the iPhone 12 uses a plastic spacer where the iPhone 12 Pro has its own LiDAR sensor. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro both have the same Taptic engine and the same battery, rated for 10.78Wh (or 2,815mAh) – smaller than the iPhone 11’s 11.91Wh and iPhone 11 Pro’s 11.67Wh. Another splitter video showed similar details.
Another important difference is RAM – iFixit found that Apple used Micron LPDDR4 RAM, with 4GB on the iPhone 12 and 6GB on the iPhone 12 Pro. The tear also confirms the use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon X55M 5G modem, and Samsung storage. Additionally, iFixit disassembled the MagSafe charger, which has a dark ring of magnets around the exterior that conforms to the iPhone 12 model.
iFixit notes that most of the critical components are modular and easy to use. However, increased waterproofing measures cause some impediments to fertility. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro get a replay score of 6 out of 10 which is similar to last year’s iPhone 11.
