HUAWEI KIRIN 990 TO BE THE FIRST CHIPSET BASED ON TSMC’s 7NM EUV PROCESS

Huawei is the first company that makes 7nm mobile processor (Kirin 980), and firstly launched at IFA in Aug 2018. Kirin 980 was based on TSMC’S 7nm process and it is the one that used by Apple and Qualcomm as well.

Now according to reports, after successor to kirin 980 processor now the next mobile platform from huawei will called Kirin 985 and will comes with minor improvements to kirin 980. Also another reports originating from Taiwan, claims that Chinese technology company Huawei has becomes the second largest client of TSMC and will be first to adopt the EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet) process node manufacturing, and the process might be seen first on the Kirin 990 says Digitimes.

Huawei and TSMC has becomes close partners in recent years and said to be the second largest client for the pure play foundry company.
