Google may bring a free to watch ad-based library of movies and TV programs on its Google Play Movies app in the near future, several reports have suggested. The new Google Play Movies update will reportedly add a range of movies and TV shows that include ads to let users watch content for free. Reports have suggested that Google will follow a model similar to the American streaming service Vudu which also offers free ad-supported content.
The Google Play Movies app currently lets users rent or buy movies. However, according to a report by XDA Developers, the APK tear of version v4.18.37 of the Google Play Movies app has indicated that Google is planning to add a range of free-to-watch ad-based movies and TV shows. Code strings in Google Pay Movies APK have also been verified by 9to5Google in its report. A string within the Google Play Movies code, according to both reports, included “hundreds of movies” available with “just a few ads”, suggesting that it would be an ad-based library.
A 9to5Google report says that several strings within the app’s code indicate that Google may soon introduce this feature.
