Airtel is reportedly modifying the data benefits for all its existing broadband customers. Earlier, Airtel had placed a fixed data cap on all its broadband plans – Basic, Entertainment, Premium and VIP. However, a recent report states that Telco is now offering unlimited data benefits to all its existing broadband customers. Soon after Jio Fiber resumed its portfolio to offer “unlimited data” to its customers, Rs. 399. While Jio claims to offer unlimited data, the company has a cap of 3300GB for “truly unlimited” plans and Airtel is likely to have a similar cap.
According to a report by Onlytech, Airtel has started the conversion process for all existing broadband plan customers. This includes Basic, Entertainment, Premium and VIP subscribers, which were previously limited to fixed data caps. Airtel does not yet reflect this change on its website and MyAirtel app for all users. We have contacted the company about this change and will update this copy when we hear back.
The report claims that the upgrade of data benefits is being rolled out only to existing customers. Subscribers are expected to halt migration to Jio Fiber following a change in their aggressive portfolio earlier this week. Airtel has sold its Rs. 299 Unlimited Data Add-on Pack from its website, indicating that Telco is actually working on an improvement after the announcement of Jio Fiber. Telco has removed the prime video benefit for Airtel XStream fiber broadband plan users.
